Christina Hourany, M.A.
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, helpless, or like our lives are out of control. Maybe you feel so lost that you are not even sure how to take the next step forward, or no matter how hard you try you can’t seem to escape the pain that seems to follow you.
I utilize a holistic, eclectic, and collaborative approach throughout the therapeutic process to ensure that every person I work with gets care adapted to meet their needs. I specialize in helping clients heal from trauma, gain self-awareness, and develop a healthy relationship with themselves and others. I help my clients process their life experiences, help them identify what may be impeding their quality of life, and assist them in finding solutions and tools to increase their life satisfaction. I believe that there is a resiliency and strength inside each individual that supports a path of healing.
Christina is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, supervised by Hannah Stensby, LMFT. She is a Touro University graduate with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. She works with children, teens, individuals, couples, families, and parents. Christina is passionate about working with survivors of domestic violence, relational trauma, childhood trauma, and sexual trauma. She also has extensive experience working with high conflict couples, supporting them to eradicate negative cycles that may have become ingrained within their relationship resulting in greater understanding and respect for each other. In addition, she has intensive experience working with anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem, ADHD, and depression.
What to expect when working with me
My approach is grounded in trauma-informed care, meaning that I prioritize creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment for my clients to explore and process their experiences. Additionally, I incorporate attachment theory to help clients understand and heal from attachment wounds. I meet my clients with warmth, openness, and acceptance. I believe that for therapy to be successful, safety and respect are key in the therapeutic relationship, so I continuously work to nourish and tend to the relationship, to ensure my clients feel safe to be vulnerable.
Through a combination of therapeutic approaches, including Attachment theory, IFS Informed, CBT, DBT, Emotion Focused and The Gottman Method, I work collaboratively with clients to develop a personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs and goals. I meet clients where they are and utilize their personal strengths to navigate life's challenges. My passion for working with couples is fueled by my desire to utilize these skills to foster healthy and fulfilling relationships.
I am an ally for BIPOC and the LGBTQ+ community and actively engage in my own anti-racism work to check my privilege.

More than my work: Being in nature brings me a sense of peace and safety that feels like a warm, safe, protective hug. I have found the healing properties of the sunshine, the trees, the ocean, and the sounds of the birds, to be incredible.
